Sostenibilidad

Sostenibilidad, or sustainability in English, refers to the capacity to endure in a relatively ongoing way across various domains of life. In environmental terms, it denotes the ability to maintain ecological balance without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. This involves the responsible management of resources, ensuring that natural ecosystems are preserved while also allowing for economic growth and social equity. Sustainability encompasses three primary pillars: environmental protection, economic viability, and social equity, often referred to as the “triple bottom line.” It encourages practices that minimize negative impacts on the planet, promote social responsibility, and support economic health, fostering a holistic approach to development that is both viable and just. The concept of sustainability is increasingly important in discussions about climate change, resource depletion, and social justice, emphasizing the interconnectedness of human activity and the natural world.
