EV Charging

EV Charging refers to the process of supplying electric energy to electric vehicles (EVs) using charging stations or equipment. This process is essential for powering battery-electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. Charging can occur at various locations, including home, public, or workplace charging stations, and it is accomplished through plugging the vehicle into an electrical outlet or a dedicated charging point.

There are different charging levels that impact the speed and availability of charging; Level 1 charging typically uses a standard household outlet and is the slowest method, while Level 2 charging employs specialized equipment for a faster charge, and DC fast charging provides rapid charging capabilities for long-distance travel. The infrastructure for EV charging is growing globally in response to the increasing adoption of electric vehicles, aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on fossil fuels in transportation.
