Gel Electrolyte

A gel electrolyte is a type of electrolyte that is viscous or semi-solid, resembling a gel-like substance. It is commonly used in electrochemical applications, such as batteries, supercapacitors, and fuel cells, to facilitate ion transport between the electrodes. Gel electrolytes typically consist of a liquid electrolyte that has been thickened with a gelling agent, allowing for improved stability, reduced leakage, and enhanced safety compared to traditional liquid electrolytes. They maintain a relatively stable physical form, which can also enhance the performance of energy storage devices by providing better ionic conductivity and mechanical integrity. Gel electrolytes are often utilized in applications where flexibility and lightweight properties are required.
